Cloud computing
Cloud computing is a method of managing and storing data in the same way you would on your computer or local server but via the internet in a virtual environment called the cloud. There are different types – public clouds are owned and operated by third party service providers, private clouds are built for an individual enterprise.
Lots of people use public cloud platforms. Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure are easy to setup. You use your own hardware and network to host companies, meaning a company doesn’t need its own servers. However, there has been much controversy surrounding the security and reliability of public cloud. For example Microsoft Office 365 users experienced a server outage on December 3rd 2015. Which meant that their cloud based services were inaccessible. Also there is little room for flexibility if you use a public cloud platform as they provide a one size fits all solution.
Private cloud platforms are often seen as the expensive choice and SME’s/SMB’s feel the price is not an option to use a private cloud. At WinWeb we offer competitively priced options with flexibility for our clients’ needs.
Choosing WinWeb to provide your private cloud platform provides many of the advantages of the public cloud with increased control and flexibility. Allowing for customisation, individual support and training.
